Interesting article James. College basketball is sometimes difficult to figure out. I contrast New Mexico State with Gonzaga. Pascal seems to have very little relationship with New Mexico State and all the Zags players have an ongoing relationship with Gonzaga and always give the University credit for their professional success. In fact, we have 2 player's in this year's finals, Holmgren and Nemhardt who come back to Spokane and watch the team play when they can. Interesting how things happen and don't really have an answer as to why that is. The only thing I can think of is all former Zag players are treated very well by the local press and have celebrity status while in town.
This city has a habit of Always asking a little more from people. I know this from my banking days.
While no doubt Pascal and others would be celebrated, it always feels like people have their ulterior motives for wanting an interaction from anyone who played, not just Siakam
Pro players deal with transactional interactions all the time, but if he has a difficult relationship with us, you got to treat it with kid gloves. It feels like Every conversation about him starts and ends with money, whether it be NIL or asking for a donation
Bad sales tactics. You get to let him go at his own pace
Interesting. Every city is different. I personally love ❤️ the Las Cruces area and can't understand why athletes wouldn't want to attend NMSU. I just loved going to school there. Don't understand why athletes wouldn't want to play for the Aggies. I know tradition and winning has much to do with getting quality athletes and have a difficult time trying to figure out why Gonzaga can do it year after year and the Aggies can't. If you have an answer please enlighten me. Spokane and Las Cruces are both great cities only you guys have better weather.
